About the Artist

My name is Marilyn Brunas,

Marilyn And Fred Brunas
but some refer to me as "the doll lady"...

Seventeen years ago, I entered the Artisan Medley Gallery in Northport, Michigan, and met the owner. I offered her my one and only doll to sell, which was a clown. It sold before I reached home, 6 miles away in Omena, and I have been handcrafting dolls ever since.

I have grown as a craftsperson, thus my dolls are now called "Classy and Sassy Dolls". The classy dolls, which are the creme de la creme of my collection, are from every period in history; from the Victorians who wanted to show off their figures (at the least the top half), to the Flapper who did not want you to know she had a bosom, and to the later periods when anything in fashion was acceptable. Every year a new period is added to my collection, and no two dolls have the same face.

Supervisor Max

I do not see doll making as a craft, but rather as an art form, and even though I am not a young person, I have a funky sense of humor, hence my sassy funky dolls.

What I like best in doll making is the creativity and the pleasure of getting the doll just right.

And for a customer to say, 'that is just right!' - that is an added plus!
